August 6, 2008:

MacDermid Inc. named Don Cullen Managing Director of the newly formed MacDermid Phovoltaic business operation. Don was the company's Director of OEM & Assembly Operations prior to his new assignment.

August 1, 2008:

Trevor Galbraith launched a new on-line journal, Global Solar. There were nearly 100 pages available to view during the first week.

On the same day, a new company was announced to help electronics PWB fabrication and assembly companies participate in the surging solar panel fabrication and assembly industry.

The startup, named the Quantum Solar Group, plans to help bridge the gap between the two industries by identifying new fabrication and assembly opportunities in solar, including new processes, chemicals and materials.

The founding partners are Executive Associates of the noted electronics-industry consulting firm Gene H. Weiner & Associates, Inc. They include Gene Weiner, president of the firm, and Associates Marc Chason, a former Motorola Laboratories director, and James J. Hickman, a consultant who spent years as a senior manager at DuPont.

July 30, 2008:

Vermont Governor Jim Douglas visited M. E. Baker's MEI Division to celebrate the company's entry into the photovoltaic industry as a supplier of process equipment for the cleaning, etching, and texturing of silicon solar panels.

July 15-17, 2008:  200 members of the PV (photovoltaic supply chain) exhibited at SEMICON West 2008 a part of the SEMI special interest PV Group at InterSolar North America.
